The Cartoonist.
Ebby is a cartoonist who, over a thousand years it seems, has drawn, sketched and cartooned just about everything.
In the early days as a Technician in training with the PMG, he had to repair the telephone service of the local Rosebud police station where he met the late, great Ken Maynard, local Sargent and creator of ‘Ned and His Neddy’ and ‘Ettamogah Pub’ cartoons published in the Australasian Post.
| Ken gave him a lecture on not giving up his day job because “there is no money in cartooning!” He said he was lucky to get two quid for a drawing! This was back in 1966 and a potential career dampener on a budding cartoonist. Needless to say, Ebby spent the next lifetime learning technical stuff; truck driving; salesman extraordinaire; measuring and fitting security doors, and meeting thousands of interesting people. Ken Maynard gave Ebby an original unpublished drawing he had started doing for the local high school, which is most treasured. |

There have been books illustrated, poems characterised, posters created. Party invitations such as Bucks nights, boob job exposure, going aways, coming outs, 21st birthdays, 22nd birthdays, 23rd etc. etc. Retirement announcements, Baby’s 1st whatever’s, fund raising events, bush bashes, pub crawls, even new deck parties, fancy dress, grog turn, and Bathurst parties.
There is not an event or occasion that can’t be caricatured, satirised, or sent up in a comic strip or single black and white drawing.
The hardest part is you thinking of the occasion then sending the appropriate details along with some of your hard earned; all the rest will be duly handled!
There is nothing greater than having a personal caricature, of yourself, a tradie and his truck, on a stubbie holder in the hands of all your mates, with your own beer and your own cartoon beer label at a rage they’ll probably remember for hours! Picture a bush bash with a sketch of all the participants and their vehicles in the most embarrassing situations or company Xmas card that could be the courier of that $10,000 bonus to those most faithful staff members.

What about you fishermen out there in those tinnies struggling with eskies, chockers with the life sustaining amber fluid, having to selflessly leave their families behind just to keep them supplied with fresh food to eat. |
The mind boggles.
And, what about advertising with comic situation?
